Agartala, 1st June 2025: In a heartfelt appeal to the Chief Minister of Tripura, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) – Tripura and the Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress (TPYC) have jointly requested the postponement of the Diploma Engineering 2nd, 4th, and 6th semester examinations scheduled for 2nd and 4th June 2025. The request was formally submitted on 1 June 2025 by Md. Sahajan Islam of TPYC and Amir Hossain of NSUI.
The letter highlights the dire situation faced by students across Agartala and nearby regions due to relentless rainfall and flood-like conditions. The student leaders noted that waterlogging, disrupted transportation, and unsafe travel routes are severely impacting students’ ability to reach examination centers.
“Incessant rains have led to waterlogging, disrupted transportation, and unsafe conditions, making it extremely difficult for students to reach examination centers,” the letter reads.
Adding further, they pointed out the widespread power outages and communication failures which are hampering preparation efforts. “Many areas are experiencing power outages and communication issues, further hindering preparation and travel arrangements,” it stated.
Appealing for the Chief Minister’s empathy, the signatories urged, “We kindly urge your esteemed office to consider postponing the scheduled examinations to a later date when conditions are safer and more conducive for students to attend.”
Speaking to the media, Md. Sahajan Islam emphasized, “This decision would ensure the safety and well-being of students and allow them to perform to the best of their abilities without undue stress.”
Amir Hossain added, “We hope the government will take appropriate action to address the concerns of the student community and reschedule the exams accordingly.”
