Agartala, 2nd August 2026: Allegations against a police personnel posted at the revered Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur, Gomati district, for allegedly performing duty under the influence of alcohol have sparked widespread outrage and triggered intense discussions on social media. Local residents and devotees have demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the incident.
According to the allegations, a group of youths visited the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple on Saturday night when the on-duty police personnel allegedly misbehaved with them and asked them to leave the temple premises without any apparent reason. The youths claimed that the police personnel appeared to be intoxicated at the time.
The youths further alleged that they recorded a video of the incident on their mobile phones, which later went viral on social media. They claimed that the footage has raised serious questions about the conduct of the police personnel while on duty.
The incident has reportedly angered a section of devotees and local residents, who described the allegations as extremely serious given that the temple is one of the 51 revered Shakti Peethas and a major pilgrimage site.
Demanding an impartial inquiry, residents and devotees have urged the authorities to establish the facts of the case. They have also called for strict departmental and legal action against the police personnel concerned if the allegations are found to be true.
All eyes are now on the administration as people await the outcome of the investigation and the action that may follow based on its findings.
