Agartala, 2nd August 2026: With several key local body elections, including village committee, Nagar Panchayat and municipal council polls, scheduled in the coming months, the Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its organisational activities to strengthen its base at the grassroots level and prepare for a decisive electoral battle.
State BJP president Abhishek Debroy on Sunday said the party has started a detailed assessment of its organisational position across different districts and is working on a comprehensive strategy to address shortcomings and improve coordination among workers ahead of the elections.
During his visit to Unakoti district, Debroy said that as part of the BJP’s organisational system, a newly appointed state president is required to visit every district, interact directly with party leaders, office bearers, karyakartas and grassroots workers, and understand the ground realities.
“Today I have come to Unakoti along with ministers Tinku Roy and Santana Chakma, General Secretary Bhagaban Das and other senior leaders. We will hold discussions with party workers and leaders to understand the current organisational situation and prepare a future roadmap,” he said.
He stated that the meetings would focus on reviewing the party’s performance, identifying areas requiring improvement and chalking out strategies to make the organisation stronger from the booth and grassroots levels.
“Several important elections are coming up, including village committee, Nagar Panchayat and municipal council elections. We will discuss the challenges before us, identify weaknesses and take necessary steps to ensure a strong victory with a huge mandate,” Debroy said.
The BJP president informed that similar organisational review meetings are being conducted in every district of the state. He said he had already visited North Tripura district on Saturday, where he received encouraging feedback from party workers and supporters.
Expressing confidence over the party’s preparations, Debroy said the response from workers and people has provided fresh encouragement to the organisation. He added that the BJP’s priority is to further strengthen its network at the grassroots level and ensure greater coordination among party members to achieve success in the upcoming local body elections.
