Agartala, 24th July 2024: A one-day training camp focused on the birth and death registration process in the CRS portal (Citizen Registration System) was held on Wednesday at the Muktdhara Auditorium in West Tripura district. The event aimed to enhance awareness and streamline the registration procedures for births and deaths.
The training camp was inaugurated by Rabindra Reang, Director of Census Operations. His presence underscored the importance of accurate and timely registration of vital events.
Additional District Magistrate Sajal Biswas and Chief Medical Officer Ranjan Biswas graced the inauguration ceremony. Their participation emphasized the collaborative efforts of various administrative bodies.
The training camp addressed recent changes introduced by the RBD (Amendment) Act, 2023. These changes impact the birth and death registration process.
The camp was organized at the district level, bringing together officers from Gram Panchayats, Village Committees, health institutions, Nagar Panchayats, Municipal Councils, Municipal Corporation, Sub-divisions and the District Administration.
Director Rabindra Reang highlighted that, as per the RBD (Amendment) Act, 2023, only the “Birth Certificate” would be accepted as proof of birth for individuals born after October 1, 2023.
In cases of deaths occurring in public and private health institutions, the certificate specifying the exact cause of death must be promptly provided to the registrar and the next of kin. This service should be free of charge and completed within 7 days of the registration process.
During the second phase of the camp, delegates engaged in comprehensive discussions about the birth and death registration process on the CRS portal.
The training camp aimed to equip officials with the necessary knowledge and tools to ensure accurate and efficient registration, contributing to a well-functioning CRS system.
