Agartala, 6th October 2023:  In a daring operation on Thursday evening, Tripura Police officials successfully intercepted an Eco car carrying a staggering 91 kilograms of ganja, a substance believed to be destined for smuggling across the Bangladesh border. The driver, identified as Suman Biswas, was apprehended after a high-speed chase that culminated in a dramatic crash into a pond near Rajaram’s residence in Piporia Khala area.

The operation was initiated following a tip received by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Belonia, indicating that a shipment of ganja was being transported from Barapatahri Master Para to Srinagar via Eco car bearing the registration number TR 03-P-0369. Police promptly stationed themselves at a strategic point along the route.

Upon spotting the Echo car, officers signaled for it to halt. Instead, the driver chose to accelerate and veer towards North Sonaichari, triggering a tense pursuit by the police. The chase continued until the Echo car, driven by Biswas, reached the vicinity of Rajaram’s residence, where it ultimately careened into a pond.

After the collision, officers swiftly arrested Suman Biswas, the Eco car’s driver. Subsequent inspection of the vehicle led to the discovery of three substantial sacks of marijuana. During questioning, Biswas revealed that the contraband belonged to Subrata Chakraborty of Barapatahri Master Para, who allegedly tasked him with smuggling it across the Srinagar border into Bangladesh.
