Agartala: June 20. Tripura Police has arrested one person and seized cannabis of Rs 4.50 lakh from Vivekananda residential area under NCC police station. NCC SDPO Parmita Pandey said that acting on a tip-off, the police of NCC police station seized an auto with 45 kg of ganja on Monday late night.
She said that yesterday late night the police of NCC police station received a tip-off that cannabis would be smuggled in an auto from Vivekananda residential area under NCC police station. Accordingly, the police of NCC police station reached the area adjacent to Vivekananda residence. Later, when the auto left the Vivekananda residence and headed towards the litchi Bagan, the police intercepted the auto. 45 kg of dry ganja was recovered from the auto.
The auto driver was arrested at the same time. The arrested auto driver identified as Harendra Roy as resident of Baishali in Bihar. She also said people from the state may be connected with the arrested ganja smugglers. Therefore, the police of NCC police station is investigating the incident by filing a case under specific clauses. She also said that the market value of recovered ganja will be approximately Rs 4.50 lakh.
