Agartala, 11th August 2026: One person was killed and another critically injured after their motorcycle crashed into the rear of a stationary truck in the Maharanipur area of Chakmaghat on Monday night.
Reportedly, the motorcycle rammed into the back of the truck after it had stopped on the road. Fire service personnel reached the spot after receiving information about the accident and rescued the two injured youths before rushing them to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital.
The attending doctor declared one of the victims, identified as Kartik Majumder, dead after initial treatment. The other injured youth, whose condition was reportedly critical, was immediately referred to GBP Hospital in Agartala.
However, the injured youth allegedly remained in severe pain at the hospital for around one and a half hours before a family member arrived. He was subsequently taken to GBP Hospital by ambulance for advanced treatment.
The deceased’s body has been kept at Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination. The examination is scheduled for Tuesday, following which the body will be handed over to the family.
