Agartala: May 16. The state government has suspended one while issued show cause notices to 6 more officials of the Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD) and Fishery Department for their inefficiency in duty.

Addressing a press conference this evening at Civil Secretariat, ARDD and Fishery Minister Sudhangshu Das said that after he became the minister and started visiting his department has found many people working against the government’s rules.

“We can’t deny that a section of government officials are trying to work as per their will. They are attending office as per their choice, without any information and proper permission they are taking leave. A bad practice was there. After I become the minister I had no intension to punish them but as a minister it is my duty to visit my department. Whenever I do visit I was surprised and feel bad to see that in some place where 25 staff supposed to be present, I have found only 12 staff. After observing I have intensified my visit and found many loopholes. I have requested my officials to resolve all the bad practice and to follow all the government guidelines”, said Das.

He claimed that in his department around 95% work culture returned and government employees are working following government norms.

“However I had to suspend one government official in Kailashahar and inquiry is under process against two people for their inefficiency in duty. We have also issued show cause to 6 more persons and two persons were served warning letter and one person suspended”, he added.

On recruitment, minister Sudhangshu said, “The man power is very less and recently we have recruited some people through outsourcing. Government has also sent some file to TPSC for more recruitment of staff and veterinary surgeons as well”.

The minister further said that in the last financial year, 35 thousand 44 families have been given assistance in animal husbandry by the Department of Animal Resources Development Department under the Chief Minister Swanirbhar Parivar Yojana.
