Agartala: May 17. Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik on Wednesday flagged off another economics class train from Agartala to Kolkata.

After flagging off the train from Agartala Railway Station, Union Minister Bhoumik said that BJP formed government with majority under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tripura for second term so that the PM has given a gift to the people of Tripura.

“Train is one of the medium to connect people to people and state to state. Indian railway is a reflection of our culture. I want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Aswini Vaisnaw. This is not for Tripura but also a happy moment for the entire Northeast as they have given us Agartala-Kolkata train with full air conditioner which is an economy train. It has 11 coaches. All the modern facilities starting from safety are present in this train”, said Bhoumik

She informed that around 880 passengers can travel in this train from Agartala to Kolkata. “Many people wanted to travel to Kolkata which was not possible around seven years back but from 2016 the long distance trains were started from Tripura. The train fair is also 10 percent less than other train tickets”, she said.

Bhoumik said that like other states, Tripura is now witnessing a radical change. “Our state is moving forward in development because of the double engine government. The people of Tripura have given us chance for the second time to work for them and so we could form government in 2023 again”, she told reporters. She also shared her experience on travelling of Vande Bharat Express.
