Agartala, February 17: In a significant development, a substantial sum of cash was intercepted aboard the Kanchenjunga Express en route from Agartala to Sealdah during a routine police search on Saturday. The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals in connection with the haul.

According to reports, railway police conducted a standard search on the train prior to its departure from Agartala to Sealdah. During the search, authorities apprehended three suspects, subsequently discovering a staggering amount totaling 9 lakh 56 thousand in cash. Further investigation revealed that all three individuals hail from Maharashtra. The arrested parties were identified as Sudhir Barasu Bagmare, Karisma Bagmare, and Shivashini.

Sources indicate that the trio had arrived in Agartala from Maharashtra just three days prior and were en route to Sealdah via the Kanchenjunga Express. In response to the incident, police officials have stated that legal proceedings will be initiated against the suspects, who will be handed over to the Income Tax Department for further action.

Notably, this seizure follows a recent incident where a significant cash haul was found on the Kanchenjunga Express traveling from Sealdah to Agartala. Authorities are currently investigating any potential links between the two occurrences.
