Agartala, 23rd January 2025:   The residents of Paschim Khilpara area in Udaipur subdivision are grappling with severe damage to their homes and properties due to the release of water from the Udaipur canal late last night. The sudden overflow has left several houses inundated, leading to significant destruction and distress in the community.

At approximately 2 AM, Khukumani Sutradhar, a resident of Paschim Khilpara was awakened by the sound of rushing water. Upon investigation, she found that water had entered her home, causing extensive damage. “I woke up to find my house submerged in water. It was a devastating sight, and I was at a loss for what to do,” Sutradhar recounted to reporters this morning.

Sutradhar and other affected residents have attributed the flooding to the negligence of the water irrigation department. “This disaster is a result of the department’s indifference. Several homes in our area have suffered severe damage due to the accumulation of water,” she lamented.

The overflowing canal water, which residents claim was released without proper warning or justification, has wreaked havoc on the locality. Houses and roads have been damaged, with bricks and soil washed away by the force of the water. The community is now demanding compensation for the losses incurred.

“The people who have been affected are demanding compensation from the department responsible for this negligence,” Sutradhar stated, echoing the sentiments of many in Paschim Khilpara. The residents are urging the authorities to take swift action and provide relief to those impacted by the flooding.

As the situation takes place, all eyes are on the water irrigation department to see what steps will be taken to address the damage and support the affected families.
