Agartala, 3rd November 2024:   State President of the Tripura Khet Majdoor Union, Pabitra Kar, today slammed the state government for failing to keep its promises and assist the flood victims.

He stated that many farmers were affected by floods in the state a few days ago.

“Many families were left destitute. Although the government has announced that compensation would be delivered to them, the affected farmers of the state have not yet received any money. The government did not stand by them,” said Kar.

In the press conference, he mentioned that residents of Amarpur were the most affected by the flood. Additionally, he highlighted the condition of the affected areas in the South District, including Udaipur and Sonamura.

He further stated that, after speaking to several affected families, it was found that they have not yet received any government assistance.

“About two and a half lakh farmers in the state have suffered huge losses due to the floods,” he added. During the conference, he questioned when the government’s promised compensation for these farmers would reach the victims in the state.

Moreover, Kar mentioned that a memorandum has been submitted requesting a meeting with the Chief Minister.
