Agartala, 6th May 2025: A two-hour symbolic hunger strike was observed today at Dharmanagar to pay homage to the 26 innocent Indian citizens who lost their lives in a brutal attack by Pakistan-backed militants in Kashmir. Organized by Dharmanagar Mandal, the protest took place from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM near the eastern side of Kali Dighi under Dharmanagar subdivision.
Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen, along with other political leaders, was present at the demonstration. Addressing the gathering, Sen condemned the incident as a barbaric act of terrorism.
“On April 22, Pakistani-backed militants carried out a heinous attack on innocent Indian tourists visiting Kashmir. In that tragic assault, 26 of our fellow citizens were mercilessly killed. Today, in Dharmanagar, we stand united in protest against this atrocity,” Sen declared.
Expressing his strong disapproval of Pakistan’s continued hostility, Sen accused the neighboring country of perpetuating terrorism to destabilize India. “Pakistan has repeatedly conspired to destroy India’s economy, social harmony, and peace. They have launched numerous terrorist attacks in the past. This symbolic hunger strike is our firm protest against such aggression,” he stated.
Sen also highlighted previous protest efforts organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including silent processions and public meetings, to denounce terrorism. “We always stand for justice, ethics, and human values. Our fight against Pakistan-sponsored extremism and terrorism will persist,” he emphasized.
