Agartala, 13th September 2025:   The Pallimangal Higher Secondary School at Khayerpur, once regarded as a model institution in the area is now grappling with serious neglect and deterioration.

During the Left Front regime, the school had seen major infrastructural growth with the construction of a new building, spacious classrooms, and a playground that made it a hub of learning and extracurricular activities. Later, under the present government, a gymnasium was also introduced to promote physical fitness among students.

But years of poor maintenance have drastically changed the picture. The playground, once bustling with games and activities, now lies abandoned, covered with dense wild vegetation. The gymnasium, which was a relatively new facility, is also lying defunct, overtaken by weeds and bushes.

Worried parents and local residents have raised strong concerns over the condition of the school. They have urged the authorities to intervene immediately with renovation and regular upkeep to bring the institution back to its earlier standard.

“Children deserve a proper environment to learn and grow. Authorities must act before it is too late,” said a parent while appealing for swift measures.
