Agartala, 19th October 2025:   A disturbing incident took place in Ward No. 1 of Gajaria under Bishalgarh police station this afternoon, where a local family was allegedly assaulted by a prominent nationalist leader and practicing lawyer Apu Chandra Das. The attack has sparked strong condemnation from Panchayat member Seema Das, who has publicly denounced the violence.

Local sources informed that the conflict stems from persistent complaints about waste from Das’s poultry farm being dumped into a pond adjacent to the residence of Supriya Biswas, a local woman. Residents claim the stench from poultry droppings has made living conditions unbearable across the neighborhood. Although the pond is privately owned by Das and his family, the proximity to residential homes has raised health and environmental concerns.

When Supriya Biswas reportedly protested the dumping, she and her family were allegedly attacked with sticks and sharp weapons by Apu Chandra Das and his relatives, including Arun Chandra Das and Manindra Das. Witnesses say the family was left traumatized by the assault.

Panchayat member Seema Das intervened and strongly condemned the incident, calling for accountability. She accused Apu Chandra Das of using his political identity to intimidate locals and suppress dissent. Residents allege that anyone who raises concerns about the poultry farm’s waste is met with threats and coercion.

The foul odor has reportedly deterred relatives from visiting homes in the area, further isolating affected families. Locals are now demanding action against the alleged misuse of power and the environmental hazards posed by the poultry farm.
