Agartala, November 10: The villagers of Dakshin Krishnapur Gram Panchayat under Teliamura RD block have expressed their anger and frustration over the alleged irregularities and mismanagement of the panchayat office. The panchayat office was found locked on Friday, even though it was not an official holiday, and the villagers who came for various works had to return empty-handed.

According to the villagers, the panchayat employees, with the tacit support of the village chief, are earning office illegally by locking the main gate of the panchayat office for unknown reasons. The villagers have accused the village chief of being indifferent and uncooperative to the needs and grievances of the people. They have also alleged that the village chief is only interested in his own benefits and does not care about the development of the panchayat area.

One of the villagers, who came to collect his ROR (Record of Rights) from the panchayat office, said that he has been facing a lot of harassment and delay in getting his document. He said that he has been visiting the panchayat office for a long time, but every time he finds the office closed or the staff absent. He said that he is a victim of fraud and corruption by the panchayat authorities.

The villagers have demanded an immediate intervention by the higher authorities to resolve the issue and to ensure the proper functioning of the panchayat office. They have also warned of taking legal action against the panchayat employees and the village chief if the situation does not improve.
