Panisagar artists fraternity holds emotional tribute to Late Flute Maestro Babul Debnath

Agartala, 8th October 2025 :  In a moving homage to one of Tripura’s most revered musicians, Panisagar artists and musicians fraternity organized a heartfelt tribute program yesterday at the Panisagar Town Hall to honor the late Babul Debnath, an eminent flute player whose legacy continues to resonate across the state’s cultural landscape.

The event drew a gathering of local artists, music aficionados, and cultural enthusiasts, all united in remembrance of Debnath’s profound contributions to the world of music. The program commenced with floral tributes and garlanding of his portrait followed by a solemn minute of silence observed in memory of the departed artist.

A special musical segment featured young flautists performing pieces inspired by Debnath’s style, showcasing the enduring influence of his artistry on the next generation. The evening culminated in a collective rendition of Rabindranath Tagore’s timeless composition “Tumi Rabe Nirve,” leaving many in the audience visibly moved.

Born on January 20, 1962, Babul Debnath passed away on October 3, 2025. Known for the lyrical sweetness of his flute, Debnath carved a niche in Tripura’s musical heritage, earning admiration for his devotion to melody and cultural expression.

“Babul Debnath was more than a musician—he was a spiritual devotee of sound who left an indelible mark on Tripura’s cultural soul,” remarked one of the speakers during the event.

The tribute concluded with attendees offering prayers for his eternal peace, reaffirming the lasting impact of his musical journey.
