Agartala, 29th November 2025: In a bid to strengthen basic infrastructure and ensure safe drinking water for schoolchildren, the West Tripura Zilla Parishad has announced the installation of water purifier machines in 13 educational institutions across five blocks during the current financial year.
The initiative funded through the 15th Finance Commission’s tied grant will cost Rs 19.95 lakh. Each purifier will dispense cold, hot and normal water offering improved facilities for both students and staff.
The schools identified for installation include Belabar HS School, IC Nagar HS School, and Anandnagar HS School in Dukli Block; Durga Chowdhury Para Hemanta Smriti School and Old Agartala College in Old Agartala Block; Tarapur HS School and Kalagachia HS School in Mohanpur Block; Natunnagar Girls Hostel, Narsingarh Juvenile Home, and Durgangi Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Bamutia Block; and Netaji Progressive English Medium School, Madhya Debendranagar Kumar Bari HS School, and Brajnagar English Medium HS School in Jirania Block.
Officials from the Zilla Parishad emphasized that the project reflects their commitment to improving school infrastructure and safeguarding children’s health. “Access to pure drinking water is a fundamental necessity, and this step will directly benefit thousands of students across the district,” one official noted.
