Agartala, 29th November 2025: Tension has gripped Babugram Ward No. 01 under West Harina Gram Panchayat after allegations surfaced regarding irregularities in the construction of a CC (cement concrete) road.
Villagers have accused Tamanna Deb (Chakraborty), the Lady Technical Engineer of Satchand RD Block, of diverting government-allocated construction materials rods, cement and stones to other locations. Residents further alleged that she attempted to portray locals as thieves in connection with the missing supplies.
Former Panchayat Pradhan Milan Deb told reporters that the engineer herself transported rods and cement in a red vehicle during the afternoon hours. He claimed that the allocated materials were not properly utilized, resulting in poor-quality road construction. According to villagers, the road’s height was not maintained, fewer iron rods were used in the mesh, and cracks have already appeared on the newly built CC road.
The aggrieved residents have appealed to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the District Magistrate, and other concerned officials to intervene urgently. When approached by media personnel, the technical engineer declined to comment on the allegations.
Villagers expressed hope that the government will take swift action and set an example by addressing corruption in public works.
