Agartala, 24th October 2026 : Tension has reportedly gripped the Bandher Par area under Barjala Gram Panchayat in Bishramganj following allegations of assault, theft and property damage involving a local family. Residents have appealed to the police administration for an impartial investigation and appropriate action.

According to allegations raised by villagers, a woman identified as Jannat Begum, along with her father, Abul Kashem Mia, and Rosna Begum, has been involved in repeated disputes that have affected peace in the locality. Villagers further alleged that Jannat had frequently assaulted her husband, Nazrul Islam, using footwear and a broom.

The residents also accused her of allegedly selling intoxicating substances in the village and taking rubber sheets from neighbouring households without permission. These allegations, however, are yet to be independently verified.

The situation reportedly escalated on Friday when Jannat allegedly arrived at her husband’s residence with a group of people from the Jirania Khala area in three vehicles. According to the family’s allegations, the group attacked the house, ransacked household belongings and took away Rs 40,000 in cash.

Nazrul Islam’s mother and sister-in-law were also allegedly assaulted during the incident, villagers claimed.

On Saturday morning, residents of Bandher Par came forward to speak to the media, expressing concern over the incident and demanding justice for the affected family. They urged the police administration to investigate the allegations, identify those responsible and take action in accordance with the law.

The incident has triggered concern among local residents, who have called for immediate intervention to restore peace in the area. Further details regarding any police complaint or official action were not immediately available.
