Tripura Teacher Showcaused Over Alleged Private Tuition, Departmental Action May Follow

Date:

Agartala, 24th October 2026 : A government teacher posted at Uthaimag Para SB School under the Rupai Chhari Inspector of Schools in Sabroom subdivision has been served a show-cause notice over allegations of providing private coaching for TET-I and TET-II examinations while in government service.

The teacher, identified as Nityananda Das, a Graduate Teacher (GT), was issued the notice on October 22 following a specific complaint submitted to the Tripura government’s Directorate of School Education, sources said.

According to the allegations, the teacher had been conducting coaching classes for candidates appearing in the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET-I and TET-II), allegedly in violation of government rules and prescribed service protocols.

The notice reportedly directs him to submit a satisfactory explanation within three days. Failure to provide a satisfactory reply within the stipulated period could lead to departmental proceedings against him.

Meanwhile, allegations of government schoolteachers secretly conducting private tuition have also surfaced from different parts of Sabroom subdivision. The issue has raised questions about the enforcement of service rules governing teachers employed in government institutions.

Sources indicated that the School Education Department is examining the matter seriously and that action may be initiated against any teacher found violating the applicable rules, provided specific evidence and complaints are received.

However, the issuance of a show-cause notice does not establish the allegations as proven. The teacher’s response and the department’s subsequent decision will determine the next course of action.

The controversy has also brought renewed attention to broader allegations of government teachers across Tripura engaging in private tuition despite restrictions. Critics have questioned the effectiveness of the department’s response, alleging that repeated complaints have often resulted only in warnings rather than concrete action.

Whether the latest case will lead to substantive departmental proceedings remains to be seen. The education authorities’ handling of the matter is likely to be closely watched amid continuing concerns over compliance with government service regulations.
