Agartala: August 24. In a recent update on the progress of the Maitri Setu and Integrated Check Post (ICP) construction at Sabroom, it has been announced that passenger movement through the bridge will remain suspended until the end of this year. The anticipated resumption of passenger services and ICP operations has faced a delay due to ongoing construction work.
The inspection conducted by Sanjeev Gupta, a Planning Member of the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), shed light on the development of the Maitri Setu and ICP today.
Accompanied by other officials, Gupta expressed his satisfaction with the pace of construction and reported that the ICP’s completion is projected for October, based on the current progress.
While the ICP’s construction is reportedly on track, it has been a source of disappointment for citizens of both countries as the green signal for passenger movement through Maitri Setu has not yet been granted. The temporary closure of passenger services since September 1 has led to inconveniences for travelers and has heightened the anticipation for the reopening of the Maitri Bridge.
