Agartala, 15th November 2024: Passengers on a train from Dharmanagar to Agartala caught a youth posing as a ticket collector and handed him over to the railway police at Manu station on Wednesday morning. The incident has stirred excitement among the local community.
According to reports, the youth from Kailashahar was collecting fines from passengers without tickets pretending to be an official train ticket collector. His suspicious behavior caught the attention of alert passengers who questioned him. Finding his responses incoherent, they decided to confront him. As soon as the train reached Manu station, the passengers handed the impostor over to the railway police.
The police have detained the individual and are conducting an intensive interrogation. The fake ticket collector reportedly told reporters that he was duped through an online scam, which promised him a job as a ticket collector in the Central Government Railway Department. He fell for the scam and boarded the passenger train in a TT uniform to collect fines.
The incident has raised questions about the role of the Railway Police in preventing such fraudulent activities. The police have seized a fake TT identity card and a nameplate from the young man. “We are investigating the matter thoroughly to uncover any other possible accomplices or motives,” stated a police officer.
The case serves as a reminder for passengers to remain vigilant and for authorities to tighten security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
