Agartala, June 10, 2023: A critically injured patient had to wait for an hour for an ambulance at Hrishyamukh PHC and later, the patient was sent to Belonia Hospital by another ambulance which has no nurse. After reaching the middle of the road, oxygen mask has to be applied. Even the oxygen mask was not fitted at the right time. As a result, the patient died. Allegation against services at Hrishyamukh PHC.
It is learned that Gautam Roy, a resident of Sreepur area of Hrishyamukh assembly constituency, left for Nalua with TomTom. His friend Ajay Biswas was with him. After reaching Krishnanagar area, one of the wheels of the TomTom fell into a pothole on the road. This caused the tomtom to overturn in the middle of the road and Roy sustained grievous injuries. On the other hand, Ajay Biswas, who was in a tomtom, fell on the road and got seriously injured.
Locals witnessed the incident and rescued the injured persons and shifted them to Hrishyamukh Primary Health Centre. After first treatment at Hrishyamukh PHC, the injured were referred to Belonia Sub-Divisional Hospital for advanced treatment. But have to wait for a long hour for the ambulance.
In the meantime, Gautam Roy succumbed to his injuries after covering half of the distance. Later, after bringing him to the Belonia sub-divisional hospital, the doctor declared the injured Gautam Roy dead after conducting an examination. The family of the deceased youth filed a complaint in this regard. They complained that they did not get an ambulance on time after the incident. They were mistreated when they requested the doctor. Then somehow an ambulance was found and it had to be pushed by 10 to 15 people. There was no ambulance, no health workers. Especially the injured Gautam was not given oxygen mask from Hrishyamukh PHC. As a result, Gautam died in the middle of the road. On the other hand, the injured Ajay Biswas is undergoing treatment at Belonia sub-divisional hospital. The doctor on duty at the Belonia Sub-Divisional Hospital said that Gautam Roy died before being brought to the hospital. And Ajay Biswas has been admitted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased Gautam Roy and the injured Ajay Biswas rushed to Belonia Sub-Divisional Hospital after receiving the news of the incident. The family members of the deceased Gautam Roy broke down in tears at the Belonia sub-divisional hospital premises. The untimely death of Gautam Roy has cast a shadow of mourning in the Sreepur area of Hrishyamukh assembly constituency.
