Agartala, January 19: Pradesh Congress has demanded that the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi send a delegation to Tripura to investigate the cases of child selling and suicide due to poverty and oppression in the state.

The party has accused Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and his cabinet of being responsible for the sale of children, the rise of drug trade and the deterioration of law and order in the state.

The party has also alleged that the Prime Minister is ignoring the plight of the people of Tripura and is only concerned about his own image in the media.

Pradesh Congress in-charge Girish Chodhankar made these allegations at a press conference held at the Pradesh Congress Bhawan here on Friday.

He said that the Congress party has launched a Bharat Judo Naya Yatra, a nationwide campaign to expose the failures and injustices of the BJP government. He said that the campaign, which started from Manipur, will cover Nagaland and Assam as well.

He said that the situation in Tripura has changed in favour of the Congress party after the launch of the campaign. He claimed that the Congress party will emerge victorious in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

He was accompanied by Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, MLA Sudip Roy Barman, Gopal Chandra Roy and other party leaders at the press conference.
