Agartala Dec 10: Members of Government Pensioneers Association Tripura on Saturday staged protest demanding defined pension benefits.Raising 10-charter point demands the members of Government Pensioneers Association Tripura held a rally and street meeting in the capital city.
To remove the pension disparity among the similarly situation poor pensioners of the Government undertakings, to provide an interim relief to the pensioners of Tripura government undertakings within a month pending removal of pension of disparity as stated above along with several demands the members of Government pensioners association took a dig at the BJP-led state government for not paying heed to their long-standing demands.
Talking to media, Narayan Chandra Banik, general secretary GPAT said, “Since 2018 we have been fighting for the fulfilment of our demand but so far no action is taken by the concerned authority”.“We placed memorandum’s, deputations, met the concerned officials but nothing has been done to fulfil our demands”, he added.Detailing the demands he added, “Few of our demands include; pension through Gramin Bank, DA as per central scale, release of pending DA, defined pension benefits and many more including control in prices of essential commodities and pure drinking water to every household”.The organization warned to stage vigorous protest in near days if the demands are not met at the earliest.
