Agartala Dec 10: MoS Pratima Bhowmik inaugurated the newly built cricket stadium adjacent to Dharmanagar College on Saturday, after a long wait of 10 years. Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Bishwabandhu Sen, Dharmanagar Municipal Corporation Chairperson Pradyut De Sarkar, Tripura Cricket Association President Tapan Ghosh, Vice President Timir Chand, Secretary Tapas Ghosh and other dignitaries remained present at the inaugural ceremony.
Besides, Dharmanagar Cricket Association President Dilip Dhar and Dharmanagar Cricket Association Secretary Shekhar Singh, Tripura State cricket coach and international player Wriddhiman Saha also remained present. Inaugurating the Cricket Stadium MoS Pratima Bhowmik said today is a historic day for entire North Tripura district as well as the state.
She said Wriddhiman Saha is an ideal cricketer for the next generation. Bhowmik further mentioned that the state has seen immense development in the Sports arena during the present BJP-led government.“This cricket stadium in Dharmanagar is being compared with Dharamshala Cricket Stadium in Himachal Pradesh on social media. Plans have been taken to set up one such cricket stadium and gymnasium in 18 sub-divisions of the state, which will be completed within the next three years”, added Pratima Bhowmik.
Moreover, responding to Biswabandhu Sen’s request to construct an indoor stadium at Chandrapur in Dharmanagar, MoS Pratima Bhowmik said that a modern football field will be constructed at the BBI ground in Dharmanagar with a sheet of artificial grass and an indoor stadium will be established in Dharmanagar. Speaking on the occasion, state cricket team coach Wriddhiman Saha has promised to extend all possible help to the talented junior cricketers of the state. Deputy speaker Bishwabandhu Sen said, “It is only because of the present BJP-led state government that one more feather has been added to the crown of Dharmanagar”. In the inaugural phase, two teams, Blue and Green joined for a 10-over exhibition match at the new stadium. The Blue team won the toss and sent the Green team to bat first. Anand Bhowmik led the Blue team and Shyam Shakeel Gon led the green team.
