Agartala, August 11, 2023: The Tripura branch of the Indian Association of Physiotherapy urged the government to swiftly address the issue of vacant positions.

Speaking to media persons at Agartala Press Club, the General Secretary of the organizing committee Soumya Bhattacharya highlighted the pressing concern of approximately 70 unoccupied physiotherapist positions across state hospitals. The prolonged recruitment process has left citizens without essential services.

The association voiced a resolute demand for the government to expedite the filling of these vacancies to ensure the provision of adequate medical assistance. Additionally, preparations for World Physiotherapy Day on September 8 were announced, including events scheduled for that morning and Physiotherapy camps at various locations.

Expressing concern, Bhattacharya pointed out the presence of fraudulent physiotherapists from outside the state practicing within, negatively impacting the reputation of legitimate practitioners and the quality of care. Demanding stringent action from relevant authorities, he also appealed to the public to avoid spreading misinformation about physiotherapists on social media.
