Agartala, 21st October 2026 : A midnight disturbance at a Durga Puja pandal in Puranthal Rajnagar under Bishalgarh subdivision took a violent turn after two men allegedly brandished a pistol and created a commotion, prompting local residents to take matters into their own hands.
The accused have been identified as Mobin Miah, also known as Mamun, and Moynal Hossain, alias Shipon. According to reports, the duo allegedly caused trouble at the Puja venue while carrying a firearm, triggering anger among people present at the spot.
Residents reportedly caught the two men and assaulted them before handing them over to the Madhupur police. The police subsequently arrested them under the Arms Act.
Both men suffered serious injuries in the incident. They were first admitted to Madhupur Hospital and later referred to Hapania Hospital for further treatment. They are currently receiving medical care.
The incident has raised concerns over security at public Puja venues. Further details about the alleged motive behind the incident and the circumstances in which the pistol was carried are awaited.
