Police, BSF and Forest Department destroyed huge cannabis gardens

Agartala Nov 24:  Amid Tripura CM and BJP-led government’s boasting slogans of “Drug-free Tripura”, Cannabis cultivation is going on in full swing. It is reported that there are huge gardens of cannabis plants in various areas of Kamalnagar and Kalamchoura under Sonamura and Kalamchoura police station.

This year, cannabis farmers have planted a large number of cannabis plants in government forest department and private areas in various areas in Sonamura.

Thursday morning around three lakh ganja trees in around 6 hectares were cut-off and destroyed with petrol. Police said, the estimated market value of destroyed cannabis plants is about Rs 2 Crore.Higher authorities of 150 Battalion BSF received information from its secret sources about illegal cannabis plantation in Ghatighar area under Kamalnagar.Accordingly, 150 Battalion BSF, Boxnagar Forest Department, Police, TSR forces jointly led the operation to destroy the huge ganja garden in the area.
