Agartala, 19th January 2025: The Teliamura police have successfully apprehended a person, Gopal Nath Bhowmik, on charges of cultivating and distributing marijuana from his residence located near Hawaii Bari Gas Point, under the jurisdiction of Teliamura police station. In a major operation, the authorities seized three kilograms of dried marijuana from the premises.
The operation was carried out following a tip-off, based on specific allegations of illegal activities linked to marijuana cultivation and consumption sessions hosted by Bhowmik for over a decade. The police team, led by Teliamura Police Station OC Rajib Debnath, in collaboration with DCM and Executive Magistrate Haripada Sarkar, and Subdivision Police Officer Pannalal Sen, conducted a thorough search resulting in the confiscation of the contraband.
OC Rajib Debnath confirmed that a case will be filed against the arrested individual, Gopal Nath Bhowmik, under the relevant sections, and necessary legal actions will be taken. Local sources report that Bhowmik’s operations not only involved cultivating marijuana but also facilitating consumption sessions in his house, which has been a concern in the area for years.
