Police held 3 smugglers with heroin at Dharmanagar

Agartala, April 30, 2023: Police arrested three smugglers with 13 grams of heroin in the way of smuggling and Rs 7670 cash was recovered from their possession. The accused persons are Subrata Das, resident of Panisagar, Bahar Mia of Dharmanagar and Rajesh Das of Kumarghat. The incident took place at Sonarubasa area under Dharmanagar police station of North Tripura district.

It is learned that on the basis of secret information, the Dharmanagar police station staff raided the Sonaru Basa area of Dharmanagar-Kadamtala road at around 9:30 PM on Saturday night and managed to recover 13 grams of heroin. Three traffickers named Subrata, Bahar and Rajesh who were involved in heroin trafficking were also arrested.

Meanwhile, Dharmanagar Police Station OC Shibu Ranjan Dey confirmed the truth of the incident. He said, this success came out when the operation was conducted on the basis of secret information. At present, the traffickers caught with heroin are in the custody of the local police station and the case is under investigation.

The arrested were forwarded to Dharmanagar district court on Sunday. However, the police’s initial guess is that the smugglers were carrying the heroin inside a soap box from Kadamtala to Unakoti district.
