Agartala, July 12, 2023: In response to a rising surge in drug-related activities attributed to the lack of regular police operations, the NCC Police have made a significant stride in combating the drug mafia in the city. Acting on secret information received, the police apprehended a group of seven drug peddlers on Tuesday night in front of Ujan Abhaynagar Nazrul Smriti Vidyalaya following a complaint from local residents.

According to authorities, the police received intelligence from confidential sources indicating that drug exchanges were taking place in the vicinity for the purpose of illicit sale. Consequently, the police swiftly positioned themselves at the scene, leading to a breakthrough outcome. The arrest of the seven drug peddlers resulted in the confiscation of several items including an unnumbered auto-rickshaw, cash amounting to Rs 3,000, and three mobile phones.

Furthermore, the diligent efforts of the NCC Police uncovered 200 vials and a case of brown sugar. The estimated market value of the seized brown sugar is approximately two and a half lakh rupees, contributing to a total seizure worth Rs 6 lakh. OC Sushanta Deb stated that the suspects will be presented before the court on Wednesday. However, the pressing question remains whether the police will be able to apprehend the entire gang through thorough interrogation.
