Agartala, 11th November 2024:   In a breakthrough case, West Agartala Police Station recently apprehended a gang of five thieves responsible for a major heist in Ramnagar’s 1 Road area. Among the arrested, one member was identified as a woman, highlighting the growing trend of mixed-gender involvement in local criminal activities.

The theft occurred last October at the residence of Jogesh Majumdar. The gang had reportedly broken into Majumdar’s house in his absence and looted gold ornaments, cash, and other valuable items. Upon returning around 5 pm, Majumdar immediately recognized the gang members and demanded the return of his belongings. However, the accused refused, prompting Majumdar to file a complaint with West Agartala Police Station. Responding to the complaint, police swiftly formed a special team to investigate the incident.

On Sunday, they successfully tracked down and arrested the suspects, recovering part of the stolen cash and gold. The police have produced the accused in court today, seeking remand for further questioning. According to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), the gang was well-organized and executed thefts after ensuring the targeted house was unoccupied. Authorities are interrogating the suspects to uncover any links to additional criminal activities.
