Police operation destroys thousands of cannabis cultivation at Kalamchoura

Agartala, December 20, 2023:  In a concerted effort against illegal cannabis cultivation, Kalamchoura Police Station’s Inspector Bidya Debbarma conducted destruction at Dayalpara, Beluarchar in Boxanagar block on Wednesday.

Led by another officer, law enforcement successfully executed an operation resulting in the destruction of a significant cannabis plantation, accompanied by the removal of approximately 20 thousand trees and a TSR personnel’s presence.

Acting on undisclosed information received on Wednesday, Kalamchoura Police Station’s Second Officer-in-Charge, Bidya Debbarma, and Sub-Inspector Supratim De organized a successful operation. The target was the illegal cultivation of ganja trees located in the Government Forest Department site of Beluachar Dayalpara ADC Village.

Today’s operation led to the cutting of ganja trees with an estimated value of lakhs of rupees, dealing a significant blow to the illicit cannabis trade in the region. The proactive response by law enforcement underscores their commitment to curbing illegal activities and maintaining public safety in the area. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and efforts to dismantle such operations remain a priority for the local authorities.
