Police recover stolen camera, arrest two suspects in Agartala

Agartala, 2nd March 2024:   The police have arrested two men for allegedly stealing a DSLR camera from a house in Dhaleswar area here. The camera belonged to a young man named Kaushik Shil, who reported the theft to the East Agartala police station on Friday.

The police launched an investigation and traced the camera to a rented house in Baldakhal area, where they arrested one of the suspects, Saikat Saha, a resident of Kakraban. Upon interrogation, Saha revealed that he had sold the camera to another man, Amar Debbarma, who lived in Khumulung. The police raided Debbarma’s house and recovered the camera. They also arrested Debbarma and seized his mobile phone and laptop.

The police said that both the suspects will be produced before a court and remanded for further questioning. They suspect that the duo may be involved in other theft cases in the city, which has seen a rise in crime in recent times. The police also said that they will return the camera to Kaushik Shil after completing the legal formalities.
