Agartala, 28th November 2025: In a significant anti-drug operation, Tripura Police arrested two youths in Agartala on Friday after recovering a large consignment of yaba tablets valued at over Rs 10 lakh.
Sadar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Debaprasad Roy, along with Officer-in-Charge of East Agartala Police Station Rana Chatterjee, stated that the arrests followed a tip-off received by the Officer-in-Charge of the Ramnagar Outpost.
“According to the alert, two youths were entering Agartala city on a motorcycle carrying illegal drugs. Acting promptly, OC Rana Chatterjee assembled a special team and launched a city-wide search operation. The suspects were intercepted on Gangail Road, where 10,000 yaba tablets were recovered,” said the SDPO.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sujit Datta and Sumar Sarkar, residents of Bamutia and Kalikapur villages in West District. A case has been registered against them, and further investigations are ongoing to determine potential links to larger drug networks.
