Agartala, 18th March 2026: On Wednesday morning, police recovered a large quantity of cannabis from a goods vehicle in the Singichhara area along National Highway 208, under Khowai Police Station.
According to reports, the police had received information that a vehicle was carrying cannabis. Acting on this tip-off, officers stationed themselves at the Khwai Mahadev Tila Tri Junction. When a small goods vehicle approached, the police became suspicious.
As the vehicle attempted to evade police, it sped off toward Singichhara. Officers pursued the vehicle, which was later abandoned on National Highway 208 near Singichhara-2. The driver managed to escape on foot.
Upon inspecting the abandoned vehicle, police discovered a hidden compartment containing a total of 96 kg of dry cannabis, packed in multiple parcels. The vehicle has been seized, and a search is underway to apprehend the fugitive driver.
