Agartala, March 28: In a proactive measure to ensure public safety ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the Unakoti district police staged a bike rally on Thursday. This initiative, led by the Unakoti district police, aimed to forestall any potential untoward incidents in the area.
The rally commenced from the serene premises of the Buddhist temple under Pecharthal police station. Embarking on a thorough exploration, the rally traversed through various locales, encompassing a raid across different areas within the district.
District Superintendent of Police Kanta Jahangir, Unakoti DM Dilip Kumar Chakma, District Additional Superintendent of Police Vanneiliana Darlong, Kumarghat Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kamal Debbarma, Pecharthal Police Station OC Suman Acharya, and other officials graced the occasion with their presence.
The comprehensive rally spanned through pivotal areas including police stations of Pecharthal, Kumarghat, Fatikroy, and Kailashahar. Sources from the district security office revealed that approximately two hundred police personnel participated in the rally.
Furthermore, in a demonstration of solidarity and dedication to their duty, a significant number of police personnel resorted to a hunger strike. This gesture underscores the unwavering commitment of law enforcement to uphold peace and security within the Unakoti district amidst the electoral fervour.
