Agartala, 8th October 2026 : The police administration has stepped up security preparations in Udaipur subdivision ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja, with emphasis on crowd management, traffic regulation, visitor safety and prevention of law-and-order problems.
A pre-Puja coordination meeting was held at the Radhakishorepur Women’s Police Station with representatives of various local clubs and Puja committees. The meeting focused on ensuring that the festivities do not cause panic, inconvenience or disruption to normal life, while enabling devotees to celebrate peacefully.
Gomati District Additional Superintendent of Police Rajib Sutradhar, Udaipur SDPO Debanjali Roy, Traffic DSP Tarun Das, Radhakishorepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sanjib Laskar and other police officials attended the meeting.
Police officials discussed measures to manage the large crowds expected at different Puja pandals, particularly during peak hours. The committees were advised to ensure orderly movement of visitors, smooth traffic flow and adequate vigilance around pandals and adjoining areas. Special attention was sought for the safety of women, children and elderly visitors.
The police also issued a strong warning against coercive donation collection. Puja committees were advised not to pressure individuals, traders, business establishments or members of the public into making contributions, as such practices could trigger disputes and law-and-order problems.
Committee members were further urged to maintain regular communication with the police and immediately report any untoward incident instead of attempting to resolve serious situations on their own. Volunteers were also advised to remain active around the pandals and help maintain discipline.
The meeting was described as an important step towards strengthening coordination between the police administration and Puja committees and ensuring peaceful celebrations without disrupting public movement and daily life.
