Agartala, 28th October 2025:  Tripura Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha has alleged that the Election Commission is removing the names of poor and marginalized people from the voter list using the SIR process.

Speaking at a joining programme held today at the Khowai Congress Bhavan, Saha claimed that the Election Commission is deliberately using the SIR procedure to exclude legitimate voters, particularly those from economically weaker and backward sections of society.

He said, “Through the SIR process, names of genuine voters are being removed. The poor and underprivileged are especially targeted because they are often unaware of their legal rights and proper documentation. Taking advantage of this lack of awareness, their names are being unfairly deleted from the electoral roll.”

The joining event was organized by the Teliamura District Congress Committee. A total of 134 voters from 26 families belonging to tribal and other communities from Asharambari, Ramchandraghat, and Khowai Assembly constituencies joined the Congress party.

Tripura Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha personally welcomed the new members by handing them the party flag.
