Agartala, 17th July 2026 : A delegation of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) visited Jwalamukhi Bazar under Panisagar subdivision to inspect the deteriorating condition of the market shed. During the visit, the delegation members examined the site and interacted with local traders and residents to understand their problems and grievances.
According to local sources, all necessary tender procedures for the reconstruction of the market shed have already been completed. However, despite the completion of all administrative formalities, the work has reportedly not started yet, raising questions among local people.
Residents have alleged that internal disputes within the ruling party are responsible for the delay. They claimed that a conflict has emerged between two factions of the ruling party over control of the tender work. Sources in the area said that supporters of the local MLA and another faction led by a mandal-level leader are involved in a dispute over the execution of the project. As a result, local traders and ordinary residents are allegedly suffering due to the political infighting.
Meanwhile, another serious allegation has surfaced. Local residents claimed that around two months ago, a ruling party leader removed the old tin sheets from the market shed and used them for personal construction work at his residence. The incident has reportedly caused anger among traders and residents.
Traders questioned why ordinary people should suffer because of internal disputes within the ruling party over a development project meant for public benefit.
The market is the only major marketplace for people in the area and operates every Tuesday and Saturday. Due to the poor condition of the shed, both buyers and sellers are facing severe difficulties, especially during rain and extreme sunlight.
Local residents and traders have demanded immediate intervention from the authorities and urged that the reconstruction work of the market shed be started without further delay.
