Agartala, 13th August 2025:  A prolonged power outage at the Santirbazar SDM’s office left hundreds of citizens without access to essential services today, triggering widespread frustration among those who had traveled from distant areas.

Eyewitnesses reported that people stood in long queues for hours in sweltering heat, only to be denied services due to the lack of electricity. Many vented their anger, citing the administration’s failure to provide timely support.

Sources revealed that while the SDM’s chamber was equipped with backup power, the rest of the office remained non-functional. As a result, SDM Manoj Kumar Saha was reportedly unaware of the situation unfolding outside his office. The public, however, questioned his leadership, expressing disappointment over the lack of responsiveness and accountability.

Among the affected departments were Aadhaar enrollment and other documentation services, which rely heavily on uninterrupted power. Citizens alleged that although a generator is available on the premises, it was not activated reportedly to conserve fuel.

“If the generator had been switched on in time, vital services could have continued, and people wouldn’t have faced such hardship,” said one aggrieved visitor.

Local residents are now demanding a formal explanation and immediate corrective measures to prevent such disruptions in the future.
