Agartala, 21st July 2026: Patients undergoing dialysis at the Dialysis Centre of North Tripura’s Dharmanagar District Hospital are facing severe difficulties due to frequent power disruptions, with allegations of negligence against the private agency responsible for running the service.
According to patients and their family members, dialysis sessions come to a complete halt during load shedding, creating serious risks for kidney patients. They alleged that if power supply is interrupted in the middle of treatment, patients are forced to wait for hours, causing immense physical and mental distress.
Despite government funding for the operation of the dialysis unit, patients and local residents have raised questions over the absence of an effective alternative power supply system or generator backup at the centre.
They questioned why such a critical medical facility, which receives substantial government support, has failed to ensure uninterrupted services and adequate infrastructure. Allegations have also been raised regarding the private agency’s failure to make necessary arrangements despite receiving government funds over the years.
Patients, their families, and concerned citizens have demanded immediate steps to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and installation of a reliable generator system at the dialysis centre to safeguard the lives of kidney patients.
Meanwhile, no official response has been received from the hospital authorities or the concerned private agency regarding the alleged mismanagement.
