Pradesh Congress protests Sudip’s expulsion, demands impartial probe into DGP’s death

Date:

Agartala, 31st August 2026 :   The Tripura Pradesh Congress has strongly protested the expulsion of Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman from the Legislative Assembly for the day, terming the action “unjust and politically motivated.”

Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan on Monday, State Congress President Asish Kumar Saha said Roy Barman had raised serious questions in the Assembly over the unnatural death of senior police officer and DGP Anurag Dhankar.

Saha said the Congress MLA had sought an impartial investigation into why the alleged suicide note was withheld and whether there was any negligence, pressure or possible abetment in the investigation. He alleged that Roy Barman was expelled shortly after raising these issues.

The Congress president also questioned Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s role in the matter and demanded his resignation to ensure a fair and impartial probe.

Saha said the State Congress would stand firmly behind Sudip Roy Barman and warned that the party would intensify its agitation in the coming days, demanding that the circumstances surrounding Dhankar’s death be thoroughly investigated and the truth brought to light.
