Agartala, 27th October 2025: Former Tipra Motha supremo and MDC Pradyot Kishore Debbarma launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a joining meeting held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, accusing the party of indulging in communal politics.
Pradyot alleged that the BJP discriminates among people on the basis of religion while pretending to stand for “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” He claimed that the party was luring tribal people into joining its ranks with money. “I don’t do cheap politics,” he said.
In his fiery speech, Pradyot didn’t spare the CPI(M) and Congress either, accusing all three major parties of working only for their self-interest. “The BJP, CPI(M), and Congress never think about the future of Tripura’s next generation. They only visit the people during elections to secure power,” he said, adding that Tipra Motha continues to fight for the future of the Tiprasa community.
Slamming the BJP for its alleged hypocrisy, Pradyot said, “The BJP does politics in the name of religion. They judge people based on faith while saying ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.’ If someone says ‘Thansa,’ they are called communal, but when BJP says ‘Sabka Vikas,’ it is called unity — what kind of double standard is this?”
Pradyot further accused the BJP of manipulating membership figures to mislead the central leadership. “The way people are shown joining the BJP, it seems the tribal population of Tripura will soon cross one crore. Where four people join, Delhi is told 400 have joined. Lies can’t win elections,” he mocked.
He clarified Tipra Motha’s stance on recent bandh (strike) calls, saying, “Tipra Motha has never supported bandhs. I didn’t even support them during my Congress days, because I know how much the poor suffer during bandhs.”
Highlighting the peaceful environment under Tipra Motha’s leadership, Pradyot said, “Since Tipra Motha’s emergence, there has been no riot or unrest in the state. I don’t believe in cheap politics; my fight is for the real development of the Tiprasa people.”
