Agartala, 18th August 2026 : TIPRA Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Tuesday called for implementation of the land rights secured for the Tiprasa community by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya.
Speaking at a programme at Manikya Enclave on the eve of the Maharaja’s 118th birth anniversary, Pradyot said land reservations made by the Maharaja in 1940-41 eventually led to the formation of the TTAADC.
He said providing pattas to poor Tiprasa families living within ADC areas without legal ownership of their homes would be a meaningful way to honour the late monarch.
“Today, we are fighting for the very land rights that the Maharaja had secured for our Tiprasa community,” he said.
Pradyot also highlighted Maharaja Bir Bikram’s progressive vision for a modern Tripura, saying an exhibition at the venue showcased his achievements and forward-looking ideas.
He urged people to draw inspiration from the Maharaja’s legacy and stressed that true respect for him would come through implementing the rights and vision he had championed decades ago.
