Agartala, 18th August 2026 : Tripura BJP President and MLA Abhishek Debroy chaired a key organizational meeting with ministers and MLAs in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at Sonar Tori State Guest House on Tuesday, focusing on the party’s preparations for upcoming elections.
Speaking after the meeting, Debroy said the BJP discussed strategies for the forthcoming Village Committee (VC) elections as well as polls to Nagar Panchayats, Municipal Councils and Corporations.
He said the meeting primarily focused on organizational issues and measures to strengthen the party’s structure ahead of the elections. “We have several elections coming up. We will formulate our strategies and tactics around these and discuss various issues—primarily organizational matters,” Debroy said.
The BJP state president was also asked about the possibility of an alliance with Tipra Motha, amid indications that Motha wants implementation of the existing agreement before entering into any fresh electoral arrangement.
Debroy said discussions on the matter were continuing. “We are a national party, but our decisions are largely determined from Delhi. They are our alliance partners; they are with us in the alliance,” he said.
He added that a decision could take a few more days and said the outcome would be communicated in due course.
