Agartala: June 26. The Royal Scion and Chairman of Tipra Motha, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Monday urged for collective efforts to save the next generation from the clutches of drug addiction.
Today, Pradyot inaugurated a ‘Drug Rehabilitation Centre’ in Khumulwng, the headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
“I am very happy that drug rehabilitation has commenced here in Khumulwng. Over a year ago, I remember having a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of TTAADC, where we appealed to the then Chief Secretary of Tripura for additional funds to initiate this project.”
He further highlighted that Tripura is grappling with a drug problem, which primarily affects the indigenous people.
“While the government has introduced a policy called ‘Nasha Mukt Tripura’ (Drug-Free Tripura), until we address the issue of politicians who indulge in drug abuse and promote drugs, Tripura will never be completely drug-free. Being a border state, it is crucial for our youth to realize that if they want the survival of Tiprasa (indigenous people), they must reject drugs. For our future generation to be strong, we need clear minds, compassionate hearts, and a vision of a new Tripura that is free from the clutches of drugs,” stated Pradyot.
