Agartala, June 26, 2023: In a startling incident following the departure of Chief Minister Manik Saha from Udaipur, the car belonging to Gram Panchayat head Montu Chandra Das was attacked on the Agartala-Bishramganj road.
The incident took place near the TSR Camp in Bishramganj, where the Chief Minister had attended a party program at Rajarshi Kalakshetra. The night before the CM’s arrival in Udaipur, a family in Rajarbagh discovered a petrol bomb, raising concerns about potential threats. The police were promptly alerted, but one of the culprits managed to escape.
During the event, the police were on duty along with security personnel. After completing his program in Udaipur, Chief Minister Dr Saha left for Agartala. Similarly, Gram Panchayat head Das was returning from Udaipur when he encountered an individual near the TSR camp. The culprit broke one of the windows of Das’s Eco car, bearing registration no. TR-03-M-0663.
Reacting swiftly, Das instructed the car driver to head towards Udaipur for safety. Upon reaching the Bagma outpost, Das filed a First Information Report (FIR), and the police have assured a thorough investigation into the matter.
The occurrence of such an incident, especially after the Chief Minister’s departure from Udaipur, raises questions about the effectiveness of the reputed TSR camp in ensuring security. The recent incident has sparked renewed anxiety among the residents of South Tripura and Gomati districts, emphasizing the need for enhanced security measures and a comprehensive investigation to bring the culprits to justice.
